Read this stuff. It's good for you.

But seriously, it's good for you.

Music Box: Hey Rosetta!

O Canada. You are only good at three things: Hockey (which you recently lost to an American team in the Stanley Cup finals), being a non-contributor in the world, making maple syrup, and every once in a while producing a great band. Yes, I just realized that was four things just now.

Hey Rosetta! is a band that incorporates a lot of deep and rich sounds using violins, cellos, pianos and that’s probably why it is so appealing to me. Their sound derives from the use of simple melodies and harmonies and inter-mingling them into an amazing sound. Lead man Tim Baker brings a lot of energy to the live shows apparently and from what I can gather, they put on live shows that resemble and are very similar to Arcade Fire shows (Neither of which I’ve attended). Their third album Seeds was released back in February and I did not have time to listen to them until towards the end of May. I must admit that it took a while to get acquainted with their style, but I completely love it now.

Check out their top single:

Another good song:

Also, you can get a free download of the XM The Verge Session here at NoiseTrade.com/HeyRosetta

The Strokes – Angles

Yes, I recommended this album a couple months ago but it simply is too good!! You need to listen to it now!

Dirty Gold – Roar

Another great local San Diego band. Their songs are all super chill and relaxing.

  1. You are completely ignorant about Canada..go find out where Americas oil, timber etc etc.. and eventually fresh water comes from. The American hockey team (Boston) had 20 Canadians on it. I try to give USA some credit when I say they can’t possibly be as ignorant as they are made out to be, but then someone like you comes along and proves me wrong.

  2. I actually have visit Canada a bunch of times and do have quite a number of family and relatives that live there still…and who read my blog and enjoy it because they have a sense of humor. I try to give Canada some credit when I say they can’t possibly all be as humorless and dull as they are made to be, but then someone like you comes along and proves me wrong.

    Thanks for reading. Cheers.
