Weekend Roundup

Here’s the quick shabang of my going ons…

I had a company Christmas dinner on Friday which was delicious. The food was amazing and it was nice to see and meet people within the company outside of the working environment. Saturday I went to pick up a new surfboard and spent some quality time with the best dog in the world in the afternoon. Saturday night was the Holiday Hootenanny at UCSD with my old roommate and good music.

We missed the first band Tokyo Police Club which I really wanted to see (their album is decent but I wanted to see how they played in front of people). Also playing was Sleigh Bells (Performance-C, Music-D), Temper Trap (Performance-B+, Music-C), Against Me! (Performance-B+, Music-A), and the group I really wanted to see The Black Keys (Performance-A, Music-A+). The disappointment of the night (aside from missing TPC) was Temper Trap… I can’t stand when band singers can’t hit their high notes in a live performance. The surprise of the night was obviously The Black Keys…indisputably the best thing to come out of Akron, Ohio including any lists of basketball players named LeBron James.

Sunday was church time which is always good the new bass player we’ve been jamming with. In the afternoon I hung out with my drummer/surfer/male model and got our new surfboards wet in a little Scripps mush session and closed the evening with a super dank potluck style dinner with Mel.

Can’t beat it. Life is good.
